Learn to play piano, write music, and create music on the computer

Piano is Fun and Easy!
With some instruments, it can be difficult to make any decent-sounding note come out. With piano, anyone can touch a few keys and make a nice sound come out.
There are a few different ways to learn to play piano. You can of course learn to read sheet music using excellent and affordable method books, but you can also learn using the chord-centric method, which allows you to more quickly play the basics of popular songs. You can mix and match methods too. In either case, I will listen to your goals and guide you towards them in the way that makes most sense for you.
Everyone Can Write Music
With a little bit of study, you can understand much of what makes music sound good. Once you know that, you can make your own decisions about what you'd like to hear, and you can write your own music! This is a very teachable skill and you don't need to be considered creative to do it. Did you know that many number 1 songs use the same 4-chord patterns? Did you know that most songs just use the same 7 pitches in their melodies? When you know some of these patterns, things quickly make a lot of sense and don't feel intimidating. Writing music can be a bit like cooking - learn about some ingredients and you can put them together the way you like. It can be quite a lot of fun and very fulfilling. Music writing is fun for all ages and can be learned later in life as well.
Look and Sound Like a Pro
It's a great time to play and write music, because many tools of the trade cost much less than they used to 10-20 years ago. In fact, you can create professional sheet music of your own songs using excellent free software that runs on almost any device now. You can even record your music and add backing tracks with very powerful free software now. In the past, this was not possible and the prices alone were formiddlable.
Even greater, much of this can be done on a phone or tablet - really. You can even connect professional microphones or electronic pianos to your phone and make recordings that sound and look as good as something done in a studio. Today, knowledge is the only real barrier.

Founder’s Notes
I've taught private lessons for over 15 years and taught at multiple community colleges for over 10 years. I've worked with students of all abilities and ages (from 4 year-olds to their grandparents), and have help students achieve a variety of different goals from getting into a college music program to playing popular songs with family or church bands. My experience has helped me find better, clearer ways of teaching that make my lessons both more accessible and more effective than those of other teachers. I also have an unusual breadth of musical knowledge from music theory to electronic music that can provide unique opportunities to students. All this being said, I understand the value of matching teacher to student and will quickly recommend a better-suited teacher if it's in the interest of the student. I believe that teacher and student must both be a good fit in order to make progress and have fun and I always give the first lesson for free so we can assess our compatibility. Free free to give me a text or call if you'd like to meet and talk about your music life goals - looking forward to hearing from you!
